About the Artist

Phyllis is an experimental artist creating sculptural forms out of organic materials. 

Biography

She received her B.A. in Art from Connecticut College, and continued her education at the Art Institute of San Francisco, Dominican University of California, and the Miasa Bunka Center in Japan, where she studied with Toshi Yoshida. (Read full Biography...)

Artist's Statement

The early works were about storytelling, where I gave form to imaginary safe places offering a retreat from the turmoil of the world.  In the next phase I let the materials speak for themselves, without undue manipulation.  (Read full Artist's Statement...)
